Gisborne District Council called on Opus to revitalise the CBD of their remote seaside city
An Edwardian theme was developed to complement the existing buildings, portrayed in elements such as new street furniture and streetscape elements.
Sandstone and terracotta coloured concrete pavers add to the subtropical ambience of the city centre, and seating, bins, bike stands, planting and lighting, set away from the retail flow, help to create a liveable space.
To make more of the city's beautiful rivers, a walkway was installed for roller bladers, walkers, cyclists and joggers. As well as providing recreation options, the walkway provides connections back to the central business district.
